A Critical Review and Requirements for Experimental Production Methods of Pain
Abstract
Pain can be produced experimentally, and the question is tofind the adequate method to measure it objectively. Thus, some authors have suggested a series of requirements in order to produce a useful method of pain measure.
Many stimuli have been used to produce pain, including chemical, mechanical, electrical, thermal and ischemic. Each of them has advantages and disadvantages which have to be analysed, knowing that, perhaps, the biggest difficulties are conceptual and methodological.
