Relationship Between REM Sleep Deprivation and Intracranial Electrical Self-stimulation in Rats
Abstract
REM sleep deprivation induced byflower-pot technique (Jouvet's
technique) was applied to naive male Wistar rats. Rates of intracranial self-stimulation (ICSS) in media1 forebrain bundle were tested before and after
deprivation. Generally, ZCSS was not affected by the treatment. These findings are discussed in relation to flower-pot technique effectiueness, ZCSS brain sites and unspecific effects of treatment.
