Descriptive study of the different fears in a population of adolescents in a rural area

Abstract

This study seeks to investigate the evoqued fears by 160 adolescents of age between 12 and 14 years living in rural areas of Gerona. They were questioned about their fears with a single question: what are you afraid of?. The obtained answers were submitted to a content analysis following other investigations (H. RODRÍGUEZ-TOME; F. BARIAUD, 1975) done in France. The objects of fears (640) were classified in categories (62) and then analized.

The porcentage of occurrence of each item in the different age and sex groups was analyzed. The analysis of the finding sobtained showed a bigger relationship between fear and age categories rather than that of sex.
