Abstract

In this article, we have tried to show the concern of a Catalan scientist - Ramon Turró (1854- 1926) - for the philosophic, especially epistemologic
questions, and their occurence in the definition of both the object of study
and the method of psychology. Moreover, we have presented a sample of his ideas, with the psychological contents, basically divided into two parts:
psychophysiology and the theory of learning. Finally we have outlined his opinions on the experiemntal psychology of Wundt's school and Russian objective psychology, as well as his dependance on A. Bain's ideas in some aspects. Apart from the originality of his ideas concerning empirism and positivism, we have underlined the fact that the was not only wellinformed but continously aware of the changes being produced in the explanation of human behaviour, as well as the process of formation of psychology as a science.
