The Sense of Community in Latin Americans in Malaga: Multiple Senses of Community
Abstract
This study applied qualitative methodology to investigate changes of the Sense of Community in Latin Americans in Malaga (Spain). 30 participants underwent interviews. Two thematic blocks were detected: "Multiple Communities" and "Elements that comprise the Sense of Community”. These blocks explain the Sense of Community. The study participants were recruited through informal procedures and snowball sampling. In most cases, the discourse of the participants showed that the Sense of Community of this collective was closely linked to social relationships and participation in different formal and informal groups. The results shows the implication of participation and the ICTs’ impact on the Sense of Community, demonstrating the need for policies that promote intercultural coexistence. Keywords
