Psychology and transgender identities in the Iberoamerican context

Abstract

This special issue aims to show some of the work developed for the understanding of trans identities in the current Ibero-American context. The volume presents different subjects and approaches from the perspective of the transgender issues have been studied in this specific context. While it is true that transgender identities have become increasingly relevant in the psychological, psychosocial studies and social sciences in general, and that over the last decade, we have witnessed the publication of various editions of academic journals dedicated to the issue surrounding the globe, it is also true that until now few editorial projects which would combine these advances on trans issues and psychology in the social and political context of Ibero-America. This special edition is an effort in this direction head to publish nine articles which analysing those issues between psychology and transgender identities in their multiplicity.

Antar Martínez-Guzmán

Antar Martínez-Guzmán es profesor e investigador en la Universidad de Colima, México. Es Doctor en Psicología Social por la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. Sus líneas de trabajo giran en torno a las identidades y prácticas de género no normativas, metodologías cualitativas y participativas de investigación, y psicología social crítica.

Marco Aurelio Prado, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais

Doctorado en Psicologia Social en la PUC/SP/Brasil. Es profesor del Programa de Estudios Posgrados en Psicologia de la Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) e investigador del Grupo de Derechos Humanos y Ciudadanía LGBT de la UFMG.
