Abstract

The Perception of Environmental Restoration Scale (PERS-R; Martínez-Soto & Montero, 2007) was used to document the influence of restorative qualities of housing on family functioning through the following factors: Compatibility, Fascination, Scope, Coherence, Being Away and the Environmental Preference Indicator. It was hypothesized that the perception of environmental restoration of housing is positively related to the assessment of home peacefulness, order and control. 117 in home interviews were carried out with adolescents and adults (mean age of 45.85 years, 61 males and 56 females) from the Mexican Valley Metropolitan Area. Findings showed positive and significant relations between the PERS-R dimensions of Compatibility, Coherence, Scope and Environmental Preference, and family functioning.

Doctorado por la UNAM, en el área de Psicología Social y Ambiental. Actualmente se encuentra cursando un posdoctorado en el Instituto de Neurobiología de la UNAM. Entre sus líneas de investigación se refiere la evaluación de las cualidades de los ambientes restauradores y de la restauración psicológica.

María Montero, UNAM

María Montero y López Lena. Doctorada por la UNAM, con estudios posdoctorales en la School of Social Ecology, U.C. Irvine. Es miembro del SNI desde 2001 y profesora titular del posgrado en la Facultad de Psicología, UNAM. Entre sus líneas de investigación destaca el estudio de la Pobreza, Soledad y Desarrollo Socioemocional a través del ciclo vital. Ha publicado en diversas fuentes, entre las que destacan: The New Handbook of Environmental Psychology, Adolescence, CyberPsychology & Behavior, Environment and Behavior, Salud Mental y Revista Mexicana de Psicología.
