Ramon Bayes (Barcelona, 1930), is Doctor of Philosophy (Psychology Section), University of Barcelona. Professor of Basic Psychology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona from 1983 to 2002, when he was appointed Professor Emeritus. He has worked in the fields of experimental psychology, social psychology and legal psychology. Since the late seventies has specialized in the field of health psychology, particularly in the following areas: cancer, AIDS and palliative care. Has published, among other works: Una introducción al método científico en psicología (1974, 1978, 1980, 2009), Iniciación a la farmacología del comportamiento (1977), Psicología y Medicina (1979), Psicología Oncológica (1985, 1991), Sida y psicología (1995), Psicología del sufrimiento y de la muerte (2001), Afrontando la vida, esperando la muerte (2006), El reloj emocional. La gestión del tiempo interior (2007) and Vivir: guía para una jubilación activa (2009). In 2004 he edited Ética y sedación al final de la vida and Dolor y sufrimiento en la práctica clínica. Since 2005, writes in the newspaper El País. He was a founding member of the Societat Catalano-Balear de Cures Pal.liatives and vice president of the Sociedad Española Interdisciplinaria del SIDA. Societat Catalana de Recerca i Terapia Conductual (S.C.R.I.T.C.) awarded in 1995, the Pavlov Award by all his work. In 2005, the Acadèmia de Ciències Mèdiques i de la Salut de Catalunya i de Balears, created an award with his name. The Col.legi Oficial de Psicòlegs de Catalunya has named "Collegiate Honor". On January 22th 2009 has been invested with an honorary doctorate in Psychology from the UNED. At the end of 2008 had over 700 publications.
